A Bomet Man Murders His Neighbour Over Ksh 400 Debt
A man from Bomet County allegedly kills his neighbour over a debt of 400 shillings. The man is suspected to have committed the crime on Saturday night over an alleged debt of Ksh 400 only.
Police in Bomet have arrested the man after he stabbed his neighbour, Festus Keter (35 years) on the chest and he is currently under police custody.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), has reported that the suspect identified as Evans Mutai owns a shop at Sibaiyan location.
The detectives further disclosed that Evans Mutai after committing the crime he proceeded to transact business in his shop as usual as if nothing had happened. DCI wrote on Twitter handle Sunday.
Before the incident, the two were involved in an argument over the debt of 400 shillings that the deceased owed the shopkeeper. The deceased was then stabbed and left for dead outside the shop. DCI added.
One of the villagers who spotted the body of the deceased went and informed the police at Chesoen police station about the incident who later arrested the culprit.
“The officers immediately rushed to the scene 10 kilometres away and conducted preliminary investigations into the murder, after which the suspect was apprehended,” the DCI confirmed.
According to DCI, it was disclosed that the suspect used a knife to kill the deceased.
“A blood-stained knife was recovered which might have been used & kept as an exhibit.” Added the DCI.
Mutai will be arraigned in court on Monday, to answer murder charges. The body of the deceased was taken to Longisa hospital mortuary waiting for a postmortem.
