Property of unknown value went up in flames after a dormitory caught fire in Gitweku Girls High School in Kahuro, Murang’a County.
The fire started early on Monday morning at around 4 am. The origin of the fire is not yet ascertained.
Students’ personal properties of unknown value were razed down to ashes leaving 156 students without a place to sleep. The school staff and the Murang’a county fire engine managed to put off the fire before causing more destruction.
This comes after a Kambaa, Gekonge and Chumani Secondary Schools dormitories were reduced to ashes in a span of 24 hours.
It is alleged that the girls in Gitweku Secondary School went on a rampage but it is yet to be established.
Bilha Wanjiku, the county’s chief fire officer urged forensic to launch an investigation immediately to establish the cause of the fire.
Additionally, based on the findings on the scene, Wanjiku recommended that electricity experts should start an investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
