Administration Officers In Hot Soup Following CS Matiang’i Latest Directives
The National government administration officers who are are found to be alcoholics their days are numbered for they are soon going to lose their jobs.
CS Fred Matiang’i has given a new order which will see all alcoholic officials lose their jobs. He added that those addicted to alcohol and other substance abuse will be taken to rehabilitation centres after losing their jobs.
CS Matiang’i issued this new order while at Kenya School Of Government in Kabete, Nairobi during a launch of a thirty-day Rapid Response Initiative (RTI) meant to do away with substandard and counterfeit alcohol-related drinks.
CS Matiang’i was accompanied by PS Karanja Kibicho. He said that administration officers who are involved in public drunkenness are a source of embarrassment and should come to an end.
The CS has now directed all the County to start the task of identifying administration officers including chiefs and subchiefs addicted to substance abuse and hand over the report to the ministry for action to be taken against them.
The Interior Ministry has also cited that the devolved government has led to increased alcoholism in the country because of the issuance of licences to pubs located in residential areas.
The RRI will be a nationwide intergovernmental activity that will closely work on the findings of a national survey conducted by Nacada in 2017.
According to the survey, alcohol and other substances abuse were on a rise in all regions.
The report ranked Nairobi County top with 42.3 per cent, followed by the Western region 39.3 per cent and Rift Valley at 33.1 per cent.
On the same note, PS Karanja passed a stern warning to politicians against using illicit liquor to win over youths during their campaigns.
