Another dormitory gutted down to ashes
Several students of Omonayo Secondary School in Nyamira County spent the night in the cold after their dormitory was brought to Ashes by fire.
According to the school principal, the fire began in the late hours of the night causing students to raise alarm which attracted the attention of the villagers. The Villagers came to put off the fire but their efforts bore no fruits.
The school Principal said they did what they could to put out the firefire but it was too strong and they didn’t succeed. By the time fire fighters arrived at the scene, it was already too late.
However, the principal thanked God that no student was injured during the incident although all their belongings were burnt, adding that the cause of the fire was yet to be known by the police who have begun investigations.
Area Education Officer Zachary Obara was among those who visited the school following the incident.
He asked the students to remain disciplined in order to succeed in their education because without it their lives will be ruined.
Parents who visited the school following the incident thanked the former Borabu Constituency Member of Parliament Ben Momanyi for giving 100 blankets,100 bars of soap and 100 bundles of tissues paper to the affected students to enable them continue with their studies.
A parent expressed his gratitude to the former Member of Parliament for acting swiftly to support the school in the time of need. He appealed to other well-wishers to come on board and help.
The fire incident comes few weeks after a dormitory in Kiabonyoru Girls went up in Flames. The cause of fire remains unknown.
Residents called for quick investigations to determine the cause of the fire in the two incidences to help them stop similar incidences in the coming days.
