Another Famous University Closed Indefinitely
Students are the worst affected after another famous university closes indefinitely.
Learning at Egerton University has been after indefinite closure. The university was not closed because the student went on a rampage but due to the failure of the University management to pay workers their dues.
The pay dispute has been in existence for about 4 years now following the University’s inability to honour the 2017-2021 collective bargaining agreement.
Egerton has become the second university to close due to unpaid wages disputes. Nearly two months ago Moi University main campus workers boycotted their duties over unresolved pay wages disputes which lead to the closure of the University.
The issues of unresolved wage disputes in higher institutions of learning seem to be a challenge largely affected students. The ministry of education seems to be unable to solve the challenge to save the learners who are worst affected by indefinite closures.
Unfortunately, the Ministry of Education CS professor George Magoha is fully engaged in the implementation of CBC forgetting his input in our university management leaving students in deep suffering.
Who will save our universities from collapsing? Kenyans are calling upon the input of professor George Magoha to salvage our universities from collapsing.
Workers down their tools because they have gone unpaid for several months. They are demanding for their rights. Yes. What about that innocent child? I sympathise with the learners and their parents or guardians when they become victims of circumstances due to the indefinite closures of universities in the country.
