Another school Closed Indefinitely Over Suspected Poisoning. Butere Boys’ High School in Kakamega County has been closed Indefinitely after mukumu girls high school was closed yesterday following suspected cases of food poisoning.
It has been established that about one hundred students from the school exhibited cholera-like symptoms, vomiting, headache and diarrhea.
Henry Okusi, the school Principal, conveyed the information to parents / guardians through a text message informing them of the closure due to an outbreak of “stomach problems.”
The message read, “Dear Parent/Guardian: this is to inform you that your child has been sent home because of an outbreak of stomach problems leading to diarrhea”.
The text continued to read, Once the Public Health Officers issue a report declaring the school safe for the student, we shall reopen the school. Bear with us, end of text.
No further information about the matter is available at the moment. The school management and the County Education Director for kakamega County had a closed meeting over the matter. What was discussed in the meeting was not Disclosed.
