Teacher Service Commission is an independent body in charge of recruitment, promotion and discipline of teachers.
Teachers who go against the TSC code of conduct and regulations are subject to disciplinary action.
There are several reasons why TSC can take action against a teacher in secondary or primary school and decide to interdict him or her following Chapter 10 of the TSC code.
Here is a list of 10 main reasons that can easily see a teacher interdicted:
1. Having a sexual relationship with a learner ( Carnal knowledge, CK).
2. Negligence of duty.
3. Absenteeism from school.
4. Insubordination to the members of the staff, Deputy principal or principal. This include failure to respond to letters from supervisors, proceeding on transfer without formal release, failure to take up posting aftthe er disciplinary process, failure to handover/ takeover an institution upon transfer and failure to submit books of accounts
5. Embezzlement of public funds.
6. Confirmed to have committed a criminal offence.
7. Drunkardness.
8. Submission of forged documents to the commission or its agent.
9. Refusal to go on transfer.
10. Fraudulent claims and receipt of funds.
11. Cases of immorality such as sexual harassment, love relationships, exposing students to pornographic materials, lesbianism among others.
The Teacher Service commission always keeps teachers up to date by sending the document which has the guidelines provided in the code of regulation to the teachers.
Teachers need to take note of the above reasons to safeguard their job.
