School Principal was reported missing on Wednesday after he left home for a week to attend Principal’s conference.
Principal in Kirinyaga County , who went missing last week has been found dead his body lying in a Morgue in meru County. The late Mr. Sebastian Njiru, 56, was found dead in Nkubu, Gikunju Meru.
According to Kirinyaga Police Commander Mr Mathew Mangira, preliminary investigations suggest that the mysteriously missing principal may have died in a road accident on his way to Meru for a principal’s conference.
The principal appeared to have been traveling in a matatu that is suspected to have crashed in a road accident. He died when the matatu crashed in Meru, “said Mangira. He said the director appeared to be riding in the matatu that crashed at some point.
However, according to his wife, she said the victim left home in a private car and the issue of him being in a matatu which crashed on the way is shocking to her.
Mr Gikunju went to a conference in Meru on Tuesday last week and that was the last time his family heard from him.
According to his wife Anne Njiru, her husband had come to their house on the same day he disappeared in a car that was not his before leaving for meru to attend the conference.
He explained to his family that his car had developed mechanical problems and he left it in the garage, while the car was on loan. Then he said goodbye to his family and went to Meru.
Before his body was found, the family believed the director had been abducted because his cell phone rang before it went off on Wednesday.
On hearing that he was found dead in the morgue on September 30, family members were saddened that they had searched everywhere for him without success. When the principal failed to return home, the family reported him as missing in Kiamaciri Police Station in West Mwea sub county.
