Buses collide killing a teacher, learners injured. A teacher died on the spot while eight school children and a school manager sustained serious injuries after two private school buses were involved in an accident. The two busses collidedbusses collided head on at Tokyo stage along Kagio -Baricho road in Ndia, Kirinyaga West sub-county.
The accident involved two school buses one that belongs to Kutus Municipality Primary School in Mwea and the other one belongs to trinity academy in Kagio. The busses collided during morning hours rush to pick and take the pupils to school.
A woman identified as Grace witnessed the incident. She said that the driver of one of the school bus lost control while overtaking the other bus that was picking a pupil.
The eye witness said the people who were around tried what they could to save the Learners. Good samaritans rushed the pupils who sustained injuries to different hospitals in Kirinyaga County.
Kanini, eye witness, said police officers from Baricho and Sagana police station joined the residents to rescue the victims. After struggling for about an hour to rescue a female teacher who was trapped in one of the busses the struggle did not pay off. It was unfortunate because the teacher had already passed on.
According to the police, the school manager for Trinity Academy Kagio was taken to Kagio Nursing Home with serious injuries where she was admitted and receiving treatment. The eight pupils who had serious injuries are admitted at Kerugoya Hospital.
For the teacher who died on the spot, her body had been moved to Kerugoya hospital mortuary waiting postmortem.
