Charity Ngilu Sacks 20 Doctors in the county of Kitui
Charity Ngilu, the governor of Kitui county has been heavily accused of exercising dictatorship after she allegedly sacked 20 doctors who went on study leave.
The doctors had gone to school to further their studies and according to the doctors they have not been paid since July when they were given the study leave.
According to the report from a trusted source, the doctors moved to court to challenge Charity Ngilu’s decision. The doctors now have gotten a reprieve after Ngilu was ordered to pay them.
The governor was further directed to reinstate the 20 doctors to service because her actions can not be accepted.
The court said if she fails to follow the orders, she is subject to arrest and arraignment at the Labour Court to answer to such actions which have no backing of the Labour laws.
It is a matter of of of fact that some governors are misusing the powers bestowed on them and therefore carrying themselves in a manner suggesting they are everything in their counties.
The news over the sacking of the 20 doctors who went for a study leave has not been received well by the majority of the Kenyans. Most of them have termed the move as dictatorship and against labour laws.
The Citizens in their reactions reminded Ngilu the construction of Kenya allows any employee to advance in knowledge in their area of specialisation and therefore no individual has the mandate to deny them their constitutional rights.
Many doctors in Kitui county were shocked by the governor’s action. They accused her dictatorship instead of trying to create a conducive environment to better the lives of workers in Kitui County.
