County Employ Teachers on P&P Terms Alongside Salary Increment
Six hundred and two Early Childhood Education teachers in Siaya County have every reason to put a smile on their faces following their employment by the county on permanent and pensionable basis.
The ECDE teachers have been working under poor conditions for quite some time even as they anticipated for improved terms of employment.
The County boss, Governor James Orengo, and his administration gave the teachers, who come from from all the six sub-counties, their new contracts today. Governor Orengo had promised to Employ the ECDEECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.
While handing the contracts to the teachers, Governor Orengo said that the new arrangement will offer the teachers better working conditions and terms of service based on their merit.
In the last contract, all the teachers were given an equal amount of money as monthly salary without considering their qualifications. They all earned a uniform amount of twenty two thousand and six hundred shillings.
In the new contract, teachers will earn different amounts of money based on their qualifications with certificate holders earning a gross monthly salary of twenty three thousand and eight hundred shillings while diploma holders will earn 33,906 shillings. Degree holders on the other hand will get a gross monthly salary of 43,470 shillings.
While speaking during the issuance of appointment letters to the teachers, Mr. Orengo said the move to Employ ECDEECDE Teachers on Permanent and Pensionable terms was a major milestone for the teachers and the move should motivate them to work for good results.
Governor James Orengo said his administration will continue to improve the working conditions of the teachers from time to time by putting up more infrastructure in all ECDEECDE learning centers.
