Bungoma County government is set to employ 115 qualified ECDE teachers in the new financial year 2023/2024.
Governor Kenneth Lusaka disclosed this on Tuesday at Mt Elgon where he launched ECDE Classrooms for several schools in the area as a way of bolstering education in the county.
The County chief noted that more teachers will be employed to meet the learners’ high demand.
“ECDE and Vocational Training Centres are our sole mandate in the County government functions. We are going to employ more teachers to meet the required education standards,” he said.
Lusaka reiterated the County Government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education, expressing his optimism on the feeding program for school-going children.
“Sustainability is key even as we focus on constructing more classrooms. Plans to initiate the school feeding program are underway. We must derive alternative ways of maintaining our children in class,” he said.
He, however, noted that the KOICA phase three water project in Mt Elgon will solve the water challenges in the region both in schools and in the community.
“We have a mega water project that will soon be operational. It will serve this region and beyond. You will be able to access sufficient and safe water,” he said.
The County Boss further highlighted ongoing projects across all sub Counties, while assuring residents of his relentless efforts to improve their livelihoods.
Also present was his deputy Jennifer Mbatiany.
