County to hire all ECDE qualified teachers, regardless of their age
The Nyamira County Government will employ all qualified ECDE teachers in the ongoing recruitment exercise.
“We have employed 600 permanent and retired teachers and we intend to hire more,” he said.
Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo, addressing the Nyamira branch of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) in the city of Kisumu, said that ECDE teachers play a vital role in the development of education in the country.
He denied allegations that his government had planned to get rid of ECDE teachers who had worked under contract terms and had reached age 45 and over.
“Those who are 45 and over will be hired on a renewable contract but we will not dispose of them,” he promised.
He said that in its effort to improve the education foundations in the county, his government will introduce milk feeding programs in all county daycare centers by entrusting farmers with the task of maintaining modern dairy cows that will produce enough milk to supply the farms. schools.
For his part, the president of the branch of KESSHA Nyamira Job Oira thanked and assured the governor that their Association will work hand in hand with the government of the day to improve educational standards.
Mr. Oira revealed that Nyamira County had 94 secondary schools that performed better in the previous year’s KCSE exams.
While praising Nyakeore Secondy School for achieving 100% transition to college, he also congratulated Nyakemincha, Nyansiongo and Kebirigo High School for their excellent performances.
He said more than 10 county principals are slated to retire, but asked those who succeed them to continue with the mantle of exemplary leadership.
