The Ex-Moi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Laban Ayiro is dedicated to ensure Daystar University becomes great and first among equals in the academic sphere.
Professor Laban Ayiro was appointed Daystar University vice-chancellor in 2019 from Moi University to succeed James Kombo who had concluded his interim term.
In his tenure, the professor said that he want o
to leave a legacy in the institutions. According to the professor, he will first start with the construction of the School of Nursing at Daystar University.
Professor Laban Ayiro desires to elevate Daystar University to a top tertiary education institution in Kenya.
Two years since he was appointed a VC in the institution, he has been able to marshal resources and he plans to put up critical infrastructure for utilisation by the students.
Professor Ayiro specifically mentioned the School of Nursing which will be soon set up and start operating in the institution.
He started that the institution has raised KSh 67.5 million for the construction of the School of Nursing in the Varsity. He informed the mass that he is a dedicated person and will spare the remaining part of his life to help the young men of Daystar University to stand again
According to professor Ayiro, his vision of elevating Daystar Varsity to great heights starts with making the institution topping its co-equals and producing competent academicians.
Professor Ayiro served as a VC at Moi University in an acting capacity between September 2016 and March 2018 and was later replaced by former Laikipia University deputy VC Isaac Kosgey.
The appointment of Isaac Kosgey was followed by tribalism claims. It was alleged that Ayiro was discriminated against on basis of tribal inclination.
In his short tenure, professor Ayiro had set his priorities in rebranding Moi University which is currently sunk in financial woes.
