Rumuruti Deputy Officer Commanding Station Peter Wandera was Thursday evening stabbed to death in a changaa den at Maundu ni Meri village in Laikipia west.
The deputy OCS had raided the den alone when he was allegedly stabbed with a knife by the owner of the Chang’aa den by the name Jackline Leperle.
Confirming the incident, Laikipia County Police Commander John Nyoike said, the incident happened at around 7.30 pm.
He said that the officer heard reports that there were some 20 litres of changaa that was to be delivered to the drinking den when he decided to act.
The officer moved to the scene alone using a motorcycle and when he arrived a confrontation ensued.
The report further said when the woman wrestled him down, she quickly picked a knife and stabbed him on his left side of the chest, killing him instantly.
Nyoike said they are still searching for the suspect who is still at large while the body was moved to St Benedict Catholic Nyahururu hospital mortuary.
