In a Mombasa law court today, drama ensued when the legal team handling Jumwa Aisha’s case demanded to be paid their dues by the respected Malindi Member of Parliament before handing over the legal files to the incoming team of lawyers.
The said MP has been in a legal battle concerning an allegation of conspiracy to swindle government funds by paying certain contractors nineteen million shillings from CDF kitty.
Earlier Aisha was being represented by Omari Danstan, Shadrack Wambui, Kirui Titus and Magolo Jared in the case.
The team of lawyers refused to handover the documents prepared for defence for the lawmaker to the new team citing that they have not been paid for the rendered services.
Chief magistrate Edna Nyaloti had summoned the legal team today on matters concerning the case.
The prosecution side noted that the team of lawyers having to delay the matters about the case for reasons unknown to them. So far, it is not clear how much the legislature owed the team.
Duncan Osoro and Cliff Ombeta is the new team of lawyers that is supposed to handle the case. After the drama which lasted for close to thirty minutes the Magistrate directed the prosecutor to provide legal documents to the incoming team.
Edna Nyaloti, Chief magistrate further directed that the case shall be mentioned twelfth of August.
