The High Court in Kisii County on Friday ruled that a ward administrator at the Kisii County government used forged documents to secure himself a job.
The court declared that Evans Rambeka’s employment was illegal and ordered him to pay back KES 3.2 million that he fraudulently obtained as salaries and allowances.
Investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) revealed that Rambeka forged diploma certificates in Human Resource Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. As a result, his employment was deemed fraudulent and illegal from the start, as it was secured using forged and altered documents.
Lady Justice Esther Maina, in her judgement, declared that “the defendant’s employment as a ward administrator by the Kisii County government was fraudulent, illegal from the start as it was secured using forged and altered documents.”
The court also ordered the ward administrator to pay back the total amount of salaries and allowances paid to him by the Kisii County government for 38 months of service based on fake academic qualifications.
The EACC will now recover the KES 3.2 million from Rambeka, who has also been charged and convicted for the offenses of forgery, uttering a false document, obtaining by false pretense, and providing false information to a public entity
