Examiners Suffer A Big Blow Following KNEC’s Announcement Today
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) contracted examiners suffer big blow following the council’s directives concerning marking of national examinations this year.
KNEC has announced that the Competency Based Curriculum’s test be marked electronically and hence examiners will not be contracted.
The knec announcement is a huge blow to examiners for they will miss the extra money they earn after marking the tests.KNEC Has further instructed the examiners contracted to set the examinations in the to set only multiple-choice questions which can easily be marked by the technology.
The government is going to save billions of money because there will be no printing of papers, administering and marking as it used to be before.
The grade Six examination will be marked electronically. The government as acquired Optical Mark Recognition which will be used by the Kenya National Examination Council to scored the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in 2022.
KNEC Competency-based curriculum coordinator Ann Ngatia, explained that the machine will marks the work of the candidatesw by capturing their answer sheets using specialized scanning.
CBC pioneer classes of Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 started sitting for their School Based Assessment test last week.
In the ongoing assessment, the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, only provides online copies that schools download and print for their learners.
According the knec timetable, grade Six learners will sit for their final test starting November 28 with Mathematics and English tests.
The CBC grade Six learner will rehearsal on 25th of November.
On November 29th, 2022 learners will sit for Integrated Science in the morning and Kiswahili while the last paper will be Creative arts and Social Studies.
