Father Pushes Twins 6-Months Old Causing Permanent Injuries
A man pushes his own twins from his bed causing permanent injuries on them. The twins are six months old.
A Kibera court has handed 10 years imprisonment to Fredrick Okello for the offence he committed in his house in Langata, Nairobi.
Senior principal magistrate said that the offence was barbaric. The magistrate reprimanded the man for not being a responsible father. She mentioned that some cultures link firstborn twins to curses.
The magistrate said that the probation report filed in court discouraged a noncustodial sentence saying the only way for the accused to reform was to be behind bars.
According to the reports the accused threw the babies from the bed and injured them. When his wife asked him why he did so he attacked he, beat her and stepped on her neck.
The accused, however, has 14 days to file for an appeal.
The sentencing came after court prosecutor called for a tough penalty saying the offence was a serious one.
Several witnesses took the stand in the case including the man’s wife.
She gave a blow-by-blow account of how the man has caused them a lot of pain.
She said she has been married to the man for one and a half years.
She said the man started mistreating her when she was pregnant but she never reported the matter to the police.
The wife further said she decided to learn how to make samosas after a friend advised her due to the suffering she was going through at the hands of the accused person.
She said the man at one point took the children to his bedroom and closed the door from the inside.
