Fire Cases On Rise As Five Schools Are Affected Within Three Days
Police are investigating the cause of the fire cases that has affected more than five schools starting lasts week.
The most recent case reported is the fire incident at Ortum Boys High School which took place on Monday hours of Monday, September 9 2024 where a dormitory was engulfed.
Another recent case reported is the fire incident at Uhuru Secondary School, Nairobi where Two dormitories were burnt down on Sunday morning.
According to police, the fire erupted when the students were in a church service and no casualty was reported during the incident.
Upon visiting the scene, police established two dormitories housing form three students with 105 beds caught fire and properties of unknown value were destroyed.
Nairobi county government fire engine was deployed to the scene and managed to contain the spread of the fire.
Police say the school management accounted for all the students after the fire had been contained.
The incident comes in the wake of a wave of fire incidents reported in the country.

Among those affected are Isiolo Girls, Kagonye Secondary, Njia Boys and Hillside Endarasha Academy.
The causes of the incident are yet to be established but police suspect arson.
Sadly, the Thursday night fire tragedy at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri claimed the lives of 21 pupils.
“The tragic loss of 21 of our children following the fire incident at Hillside Endarasha Academy in the boys’ dormitory, which housed 156 boys, is a catastrophe beyond our imagination,” Mwaura said.
