Four More Schools Closed In Baringo After One Teacher Was Shot Dead.
Learning has been paralysed in four more schools in Baringo County after one teacher was shot dead.
The four schools have been closed indefinitely after schools reopened on 25th April 2022 academic year after suspected Marakwet bandits shot dead one teacher and drove away with over 200 heads of livestock towards Elgeyo Marakwet.
Mr. Stanley Kemboi, a Kinyach Primary School teacher, was killed last week in an incident that left his father in a coma and his sister-in-law in Baringo County Hospital.
Kinyach primary school, Tilingwo primary school, Ayatwa primary school, and Chemintany primary school have all been closed, with six more in Baringo North and parts of Baringo South still closed due to claims that bandits are targeting teachers.
As tensions increases, heavy gunfire was heard throughout the night and early Sunday.
The government has said that the schools which have been closed due to insecurity should be resume learning because heavily armed police have been deployed to patrol the area to respond to any attacks as the suspected Marakwet bandits who are said to be hiding in the nearby bushes.
In the meantime, locals continue to flee the area as youths armed with bows and arrows remain vigilant.
In the span of a week, four people have been shot dead in Baringo North.
