From Kamiti To Narok And Now to Kisii. Check the police station.
A 24-year-old man who was arrested on Friday for allegedly stealing a bike was found hanging in a cell at Nyatieko police station.
David Ondari who was arrested last week and was being detained at Nyatieko police station in Kisii county ( Kitutu Chache South) committed suicide in the cell by hanging himself using his belt.
David is alleged to have used violence to steal a motorbike that is estimated to cost Kenya shillings 124,000 was arrested and was to be arraigned in court today.
Unfortunately, he committed suicide yesterday evening ( Sunday night) at around ten. Detectives are now investigating the incident.
His body was found dangling from the cell roof by a police officer who was making a cell visit at that time.
The police officers, Emmanuel and Lucy, were on duty and as they were making cell visits to check on the rumandees they were shocked to find Ondari’s body dangling from the roof.
The two officers signalled their colleagues who came running to the scene. Afterwards, the crime scene was visited by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Kisii County Offices who documented the scene. Other top officials from Kisii County also visited the crime scene.
David Ondari’s body was later taken to a mortuary at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting for post-mortem.
Francis Kooli who is the County Commander confirmed the incident and said that the matter is under investigation.
