Govt announce employment for youths under youth service policy
The government will provide short-term employment to over 3,000 youths under youth service policy and regulations programme.
The adoption allows the implementation of Murang’a Youth Service programme at a cost of one hundred and thirty million shillings.
The county Governor launched the programme yesterday saying it will solve joblessness among the youths and other challenges.
This will also ensure service delivery at a lower cost even as the youths get an opportunity to work for the county government.
The county has 200 people only sweeping the streets in towns and shopping centres and the programme will see more youths engaged.
A total of 1,050 youths will be employed for 2 months for cleaning streets and shopping centers.
Interested youths to submit their applications before 15/9/2023. The youths will be paid 400/= per day.
Similarly, 35 youths will be engaged as ward supervisors to oversee the clean-up. They must be degree holders and will be paid 30K per month for a period of 2 years.
Another 300 youths will be recruited as interns in ECDE Centres for a year with a monthly stipend of 10K. They must be certificate, diploma or degree holders.
80 nurses will be engaged in the health sector. They must be registered with the Nursing Council. They will serve for a year with a monthly salary of 30,000/=.
Twenty medical laboratory technologists will also be recruited with a diploma in medical laboratory. The contract will last for a year with monthly pay of 30,000 shillings.
20 medical clerk interns will be required for one year with a monthly salary of 20K. The requirement will be KCSE certificate.
Ten IT specialists and software engineers will also be recruited and will earn 20K per month.
582 youths will be engaged in the agriculture sector. Their role will be to count farmers and provide records for a month with a daily pay of 2,500/=.
Additionally 1,000 youth conservationists will be recruited for a period of one month. The requirements will be a post-secondary qualification in agricultural science, agribusiness, statistics, social sciences, community development or any other related discipline.
Also 4 degree or diploma holders in quantity survey and 1 architecture will be recruited. Their monthly salary will be 20K for a period of 2 years.
The programme will be helpful in mitigating drug abuse joblessness and alcoholism by engaging the youths and providing a source of income.
