A 5-year old Grade 1 schoolgirl residing in Nkoroi, Kajiado North sub-county was sexually assaulted by her class mates and her mother is seeking for justice.
The despondent mother was alarmed when her daughter came home one evening with her uniform soiled.
The mother said, It was a shock to her to see her daughter come home from school every evening in dirty uniform. The girl had also become introverted and she thought she was sick. She took her for medical attention at a local hospital where she was treated for amoeba.
She also noticed that her daughter was reluctant to go to school – Awesome Academy – in the morning and began to push her to open up.
“She would not allow anyone to bathe her in the evening until I came home at night and she would also have nightmares when sleeping,” she added.
Finally, the girl confided to her mother that several third-grade students had been sexually assaulting her every evening on their way home from school. The little girl told her mother that the incidents had occurred several times.
“She told me that the Grade Three students had lured her into a nearby bush one evening after class. She said they used to put their fingers inside her and the last time they used a nail,” she explained.
The incident was reported to Ongata Rongai Police Station on OB number 85/06/06/2023.
According to a medical report, the girl sustained internal injuries to her private parts and is receiving treatment.
The incident was reported to the school on Monday where the perpetrators were summoned and they admitted to the charges.
The school head, Vincent Akech, however said that the school was in a dilemma because the act took place outside the school premises. He also confirmed that the pupils concerned were still attending classes.
“We advised the parent to take legal action. The school does not condone harassment of pupils. This is an isolated case. We cannot guarantee the safety of our pupils after classes. It’s advisable for parents to pay for school transport,” he said.
The school management also advised her to talk to the parents of the culprits who were summoned and informed of the case in order to resolve the matter after reporting the incident to the Chief.
