According to the new Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Gender Aisha Jumwa, her ministry is suffering from serious shortage of staff.
According to Aisha, close to nine hundred thousand public servants are required to serve 50 million Kenyans. However, the current serving public Servants are less than the required number, the few are overloaded.
This contributes to low morale. This we seek to solve by reviewing salaries to ensure the staff are motivated and serve the public with passion,” she said.
She vowed to revolutionise operations under her ministry to ensure Kenyans get quality services.
CS Aisha said the new government had inherited demoralised public servants that is riddled with among other challenges, huge workload and low pay.
To address the issue, Aisha said she will begin conversation to boost the morale of the workers by improving the terms and working conditions.
She said that she believe that everything is heading on the right direction and going forward, things will be much better because she will not be sitting in the office, she will be on the ground to monitor and ensure that citizen get the required services to complement President’s agenda.
Aisha said she is still familiarizing herself with the departments and institutions under her docket to get a good understanding of what needs to be accorded priority.
