The Baringo senator Gideon Moi, the son of the the second president of Kenya the late Daniel Moi has made it public that KANU will support Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga.
The KANU chairperson and Baringo Senator has said that he is fully supporting Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in August 9th general elections.
Gideon Moi said the party remains affiliated to the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance.
While speaking on Thursday 29th May at Nairobi where he hosted when KANU Campaign Coordination Committee Nairobi he promised to support Raila’s predencial bid.
“KANU is firmly in Azimio and there’s no turning back. We are determined to bring everybody on board to ensure a resounding victory for Raila Odinga since we believe in inclusivity, individual liberty, and national unity,” he said.
KANU National Chairman and incumbent Baringo Senator Gideon Moi is set to seek and retain his seat in this year’s August 9 General Elections.
According to the party Secretary General Nick Salat Gideon Moi’s name has been forwarded to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as one of the Contestants in the senatorial seat in Baringo County.
Moi had previously not declared whether or not he would be vying for the seat since he was Eyeing for a national position following his earlier dalliance with Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Musalia Mudavadi (ANC).
The trio had formed the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) to seek the country’s top seat; the alliance has since fallen apart following the departure of Wetangula and Mudavadi to join Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza brigade.
