KNEC To Train New KCPE And KCSE Examiners 2021; Application Procedure, Requirements And Training Fee.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is set to train new KCPE and KCSE examiners in October 2021 due to the increased number of registered candidates in the two national examinations.
KNEC usually conduct the training of examiners annually as per the subject demands to replace the exited examiners cater for any newly introduced exam paper in the said national examination by the exam body.
The KNEC examiner’s training is scheduled to take place between 3rd and 9th October 2021. Teachers who have trained previously as examiners in various subject papers and their details are in the KNEC examiners’ database need not apply for the announced training.
The training venue will be communicated to the applicants who qualify at a later date. The interested teachers should note that the training exercise shall be residential.
Each teacher who is interested to undergo KNEC training come October is required to pay a training fee of Kshs 10,500 only. The payment should be made via KNEC Mpesa pay bill Number: 819313 using your own registered mobile phone number.
The training slots are limited. Therefore, only those teachers who meet the KNEC requirements will be considered for the training.
At the end of the training exercise, the Kenya National Examination Council(KNEC) will incorporate the trainees into the KNEC examiner’s database, then thereafter will be called upon to take part in the KCPE and KCSE marking exercise.
2021 KCPE Examiners Training
Primary school teachers who are willing will train as KCPE examiners in the following subject papers;
- English Composition (901/1)
- Kiswahili Insha (902/1)
2021 KCSE Examiners Training
KCSE examiners will be trained in the following subject papers;
- English (101/1 and 101/2)
- Kiswahili 102/1 and 102/2
- Biology 231/1, 231/2 and 231/3
- Chemistry 233/2 and 233/3
- History and Government 311/1 and 311/2
- Christian Religious Education 313/1 and 313/2
- Agriculture 443/1 and 443/2
General Requirements for Examiner Training.
The teachers who are willing to train as examiners should meet the following criteria:
You must be/have:
- A practising teacher in the relevant subject areas at the level of examination.
- Registered and/or employed by TSC
- A P1 holder for KCPE examination with a minimum of a C (plain) at KCSE level in the interested training subject.
- At least a Diploma in Education for KCSE examiners.
- A teaching experience of at least three (3) year’s
- He/ she must NOT be on interdiction or any form of disciplinary action from TSC.
- He/she must be recommended by the head of the institution.
- A person with high levels of integrity
- 50 years of age and below.
In addition to the above requirements, KNEC will consider the following when shortlisting examiners for training:
- Regional balancing
- Age of the examiner
- Gender balancing
- Work experience and
- Professional qualifications

The application deadline is set to be 25th September 2021. KNEC will not consider applications made after the scheduled deadline.
