KUCCPS directed to halt KMTC admissions by legislators
The National Assembly Health Committee has directed Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)(KUCCPS) to stop the ongoing admission of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) students terming them an illegality.
The Committee which is chaired by Endebess MP Robert Pukose has directed that the process be conducted afresh by the KMTCKMTC board.
The legislators on Thursday noted that the exercise was illegal, null and void, they accused the national placement board of placing over 42,000 students for the September 2023 intake despite a court ruling barring it from placing them.
“The process conducted by KUCCPSKUCCPS is null and void. I have directed KMTC to seize the matter from KUCCPS,” Pukose said.
KUCCPS was also directed to transfer eight million, four hundred thousand shillings it collected in application fees to KMTC board for the 42,000 applicants who had applied through the placement agency’s portal.
Applicants were charged two thousand shillings as an application fee to be placed to the forty two campuses of the medical college across the country.
KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome said forty two thousand students had applied and over thirty thousand applicants had missed out the admission due to limited spaces.
