Kwale Teachers Support Program Group Donates Basic Requirements To Boys And Girls; Check Details.
Primary school teachers in Kwale County have donated some of the basic requirements to boys and girls from poor family backgrounds.
The teachers have now appealed to well-wishers and charitable organisations to support mainly schoolboys with underwear and other basic requirements which pupils from humble family backgrounds do not meet.
According to the teachers, the boy child has been neglected for a long now and the majority of boys come from poor families and only wear trousers while girls keep getting donations.
Mr Robert continued to say that just as girls are given sanitary towels and underwear, helping them stay in school, many charitable organisations were forgetting that boys are also in need of underwear as it was important for their hygiene.
He was speaking during a session at the school where Kwale Youth Communication Group, a community-based organization, distributed sanitary towels to Class Seven and Eight girls.
According to the group’s community civic education officer Salim Chitsao, providing some basic needs to pupils from poor families is important for their well being in school.
He further said that Mackinnon, Lungalunga, Shimba Hills and Msambweni primary schools have been selected and pupils are going to receive donations.
He said that the group is targeting at least 250 students in every school to be supplied with face masks and sanitary towels for the girls.
