The Ministry of Education has shelved the transfer of principals across Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions countrywide following interventions from college managements and education stakeholders.
A principal in one of the institutions confirmed that he is still at his station despite receiving a deployment letter to head a new institution.
The State department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) had earlier provided the principals managing top national polytechnics and county/sub-county level Technical Vocational Colleges (TVC)with deployment letters.
Earlier news had indicated that Kabete National Polytechnic Principal Okumu Odhiambo was to be transferred to Kisumu National Polytechnic to replace Catherine Kelonye, who was to be deployed to Friends College Kaimosi to take over from Michael Musuya who is understood to have retired from service.
Patrick Muchemi, who has been heading Mukurweni TTI in Nyeri County, was to replace Okumu at Kabete National Polytechnic.
A deputy principal at Kipkabus TTI was reportedly set to replace Muchemi.
Eldoret National Polytechnic principal Charles Koech was to be transferred to Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology in Bungoma County to replace Dr. Rosebella Chukwu who was to take charge at his previous station in Eldoret.
The transfers were totally unexpected as the Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education at the Ministry normally conducts such exercises during school holidays.
