After months of waiting, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) launched the application portal, allowing the 2022 KCSE applicants to apply and update their desired university courses.
KCSE applicants choosing public colleges would be eligible for government loans as well as scholarships, whereas candidates choosing private universities would only be eligible for government loans.
39 public universities and 30 private universities are eligible for Higher Educations and Loan Board (HELB) loans, according to the KUCCPS portal. The Ministry of Education’s 189 public colleges are eligible for HELB loans and government scholarships.
Seven Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs were chosen in contrast.
Bachelor of Commerce
When looking for candidates who want to pursue careers in business management, B.COM is one of the most marketable degrees. A mean grade of C and an A or B in math are needed to reach the cluster points threshold.
The total cost of the study at Pan Africa Christian University is Ksh312,000 per semester, while the lowest cost is Ksh78,600 at Management University of Africa.
The course costs Ksh86,200 at Lukenya University, Ksh105,000 at Mount Kenya University, Ksh130,600 at Zetech University, and Ksh132,000 at Gretsa University.
On the other side, charges Ksh220,150 for the first academic year to take the course.
Bachelor of Education Arts
The Kiriri Womens University of Science and Technology is the university with the lowest tuition for this course, at Ksh82,350. The same programme is available at Kisii University for Ksh283,135. The details were made available to the public when the portal launched.
The tuition at KCA University is Ksh88,540, whereas that at Mount Kenya University is Ksh105,000. The cost of the course at Kenyatta University is Ksh183,600 each year.
Law
Students interested in studying at Daystar University’s Bachelor of Law program will need to pay Ksh335,000, which is the highest rate available in comparison to Mount Kenya University’s Ksh170,000 fees.
The most cheap rates are offered by Chuka University, Kenyatta University, and Maseno at Ksh183,000, Ksh183,600, and Ksh183,600, respectively.
At Embu University, tuition is Ksh42,000 per year, of which Ksh23,000 and Ksh19,000 are paid for the first and second semesters, respectively.
To study law at UoN, a student must spend Ksh221,850 year. A mean grade B is the required cluster point for students wishing to pursue a legal education.
Nursing
For many students looking to pursue a career in the health sciences, the bachelor of science in nursing is another employable course.
A mean grade of C+ corresponds to the lowest cluster point.
The least expensive university offering the programme is Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), which charges an annual fee of Ksh188,200. The most expensive institution is Daystar University, which charges an annual fee of Ksh340,000.At Ksh229,450, Ksh251,700, Ksh275,400, respectively, St. Paul’s University, Presbyterian University, South Eastern Kenya University, and Pwani University also have inexpensive pricing.
Engineering
Across all universities offering the degree programs, students wishing to pursue civil engineering as well as electrical engineering will need to fork over an average of Ksh300,000.
