Listen to the concerns of Parents and Teachers over CBC, Raila Advised Education CS professor George Magoha while at Nyando.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has advised the Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha to listen to the concerns of parents and teachers over the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
While speaking in Nyando on Friday, October 8 Raila Odinga that CS Magoha needed to consider all perspectives and concerns expressed by parents on the implementation of CBC.
In t recent past there have been concerns raised from parents and teachers on the new curriculum which according to Odinga are good and there is a need to address them for all Kenyans to feel inclusive.
Honourable Raila further informed CS Magoha that he supports the CBC. He only urged the education CS to give a listening hear to the concerns that have been tabled and explain to parents to comprehend why CBC is good compared to the rolled out 8-4-4 system.
Magoha hinted that the government working on the final stages of the implementation of CBC. He informed that the Ministry of Education has already distributed Ksh17 billion to all public schools.
According to CS George Magoha, the government will not relax and is going to continue working on the new curriculum despite the case in court and parental objections.
He further said that the government has already spent Ksh 58 million on CBC and more funds are required for the remaining implementation processes.
Magoha urged school leaders against sending pupils home for schools fees claiming that the government’s capitation per learner is sufficient to keep the institutions running.
This has come when there is a petition filed in court by the President of the Law Society of Kenya, Nelson Havi asking the court to stop the government from the implementation of the new curriculum.
