Magoha hints at leaving ministerial job and name his preferred successor
Professor George Magoha has been serving as the minister for Education for sometimes under the government of Uhuru Kenyatta. Earlier on, the professor had shown interest in continuing with his job as the CS for Education but somehow??
Serving as the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Professor George Magoha, has revealed how little-known ministerial staff Dr Sarah Ruto helped him achieve milestones during his tenure in the Jogoo house.
Speaking at an event, Magoha said Sarah Ruto has been instrumental in the success of the Education Ministry.
According to Magoha, the civil servant works diligently and gives updates every day about the affairs of teachers and other issues relating to the ministry.
The chief of staff worked well with me, although she had trouble adapting to the ways of most of the team members.
When I was appointed as Cabinet Secretary, everyone knew that I was not easy to use because I was a child driver, but Sarah Ruto always smiled, walked with me and did other things. If you don’t believe you can go and check,said Magoha.
The reason I mentioned Sarah today is because I appointed her in teaching position in the ministry and you will believe that she gave me reports on the same this morning , the CS said.
Magoha asked the incoming administration led by President William Ruto to appoint Sarah to the Ministry of Education, citing her professionalism and commitment.
I hope the next government will forget about politics and maybe find professional expertise in teacher education, Magoha added.
Sarah Ruto’s profile
Dr. Sarah Ruto has more than thirty years of experience in the education sector, holding several positions in educational institutions. Ruto was the president of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) before being nominated for CAS .
Apart from being a lecturer at Kenyatta University, Ruto is known for her involvement in large-scale education reforms around the world.
Among her most notable works are the UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report, the Education Platform for Inclusive Development Policy (INCLUDE) and the Brookings Millions Advisory Council.
