Magoha’s Reply on His Comment on Homosexual Students
Professor George Magoha while speaking today during commissioning of Competence Based Curriculum classrooms at Parklands Arya Girls secondary schooli in Nairobi has said that his comment on Homosexual Students was taken out of context.
Last year December, the Cabinet Secretary said all homosexual students should not be in boarding schools but rather they should be dayscholars.
The main reason why he said that is because as the homosexual students continue practicing their homosexuality in school and interacting with other learners in one way or another they will affect their colleagues.
However, some schools took his comment out of context and misinterpreted it to be a directive from the CS to expel homosexuals from boarding schools.
The Cabinet Secretary has clarified today that schools should expel learners who are invasive and manipulative and not on the grounds that they are homosexual.
While addressing the issue of homosexuality he added that these students should be in day schools so that they can be near to their parents who are their first responsibility instead of being in a boarding school hoping from one bed to another disturbing other students.
The Cabinet Secretary said students who are homosexual should engage in such activities outside the school (in the streets) as we will not have any problem with them.
Homosexuals who do their business in school and disturb or affect other students in one way or the other shall be dayscholars as we have proclaimed, he added.
