Meet New KICD Chair Appointed By President Ruto
Simon Gicharu, the founder and current president of Mount Kenya University, was selected by President William Ruto on Friday to lead the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.
The President announced that Gicharu assumes his position as of October 13, 2023 in a gazette notice dated October 12, 2023.
Gicharu will hold the position for three years, according to Ruto.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (2) (a) of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Simon Gicharu to be chairperson of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from October 13, 2023.”
Elishiba Njambi Kimani’s appointment was canceled by the president.
