CDF was declared illegal by the Supreme Court of Kenya in August this year after many years of existence in the country following claims by the apex court that it was against the Division of Revenue and Public Finance law for the Members of Parliament to manage the funds.
Treasury was expected to disburse the Sh44.3 billion allocated to the NG-CDF. However, this has not happened due to challenges in transition to the new government, delayed disbursements from the International Monetary Fund, huge pending bills, fuel subsidy and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
