Milimani Church closed indefinitely after church services were interrupted over leadership wrangles. The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Homa Bay County remained closed on Saturday with church members being advised to worship at home as there were no services taking place on the church grounds.
It is reported that the church has being going through rough times from May this year over leadership wrangles.
One pastor Maena Ken who has been administering in the church for quite some time was suspended in May for unknown reasons. Due to his suspension, the church has been facing a lot of disunity which has led to the current wrangles in the management.
On Saturday morning drama ensued when a group of the believers worshipping at milimani SDA church went into the church and closed the gates barring other members from entering the church for Sabbath services.
The said group left a notice at the gate informing other members that there would be no services on that day and hence they are advised to return home.
At mid-morning of the same day, pastor Benson who ministers at Kenya Lake Conference and is in charge of other pastors in the region arrived at the church grounds only to be met by the small group. The group asked the pastor to address them but the pastor refused and Locked himself inside his car.
As tension continued to rise within the church vicinity, officers from Oyugis police station had to intervene in order to cool or calm down the angry worshippers.
It was later disclosed that the church gates were locked up to prevent a possible fight or violence that was looming. From the same sources, there were rumors that Pastor Benson was to bring a new pastor to the Milimani SDA church and therefore the gates were locked up to prevent the incoming pastor from getting into the church.
All in all, church services were not conducted at milimani SDA church on Saturday due to wrangles within the church. Some church members are against the idea of bringing in a new pastor as the former awaits the conclusion of a case in court. They are for the idea that the case should be concluded first before any changes are made.
We ought to remember that these are end times and the devil shall not rest until he misleads even the faithful ones. Be on the alert, be watchful and pray so that the devil cannot harm you or mislead you.
