These academic years have shirt durations after the ministry of education revised the academic calendar from the usual 39 weeks per academic year to 30 weeks to cover the time lost when schools were not in operation due to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic which led to the closure of all schools mid-March 2020.
Experts have revealed that the situation in our schools is not good enough as the students are going to be confused in their studies because it is seemingly impossible for the syllabus to be completed adequately within the set period.
The report from the experts, states that it is difficult for students to complete the syllabus for 6 months. Instead, they reported that Students will rush for syllabus completion and this may lead to poor academic skills in the future life.
The experts noted that Term two covers 2 months instead of 3 and a half as it was in previous years, Term 3 will also cover 2 months instead of 3 as it was in previous years.
Therefore, the experts requested that it should be best if the ministry of education adds a few months for the sake of students in the future years.
