Ministry Seeks Newly Posted P1 Teachers for Teaching Practicum
Through a Circular, the Ministry of Education has instructed the Principals of Teacher Training Colleges to collect data on all P1 teachers who had enrolled for the upgrade programme but got absorbed by the Teachers Service Commission in the just concluded recruitment.
The Ministry wants the data for logistical planning of the practicum assessment of the p1 Teachers who had enrolled for Upgrade program. It is feared that the teachers might have been posted to stations that are not selected as practicum schools.
The Circular signed by Julius Jwan the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Early Learning and Basic Education wants the data to identify the number of teachers who were absorbed but had not undertaken teaching practice which is the final stage in the upgrade programme.
The memo read in part, “In this regard you are requested to submit your comprehensive and final test of all teachers for the upgrade to DPTE who were employed by the TSC using the attached template.”
The teachers, from the pioneer group of the P1 teacher upgrade programme to the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE), are required to undertake their practicum which is the fourth and final examination.
All the teachers who successfully were recruited by the Commission on permanent and pension terms have already received their appointment and posting letters to their respective schools.
