The Ministry of Education on Monday issued a revised 2023 calendar for Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary schools and colleges.
In a circular, Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang notified education officials of the new calendar dates, which are an amendment to those announced on November 7, 2022.
In the calendar, the ministry stipulates that the first term, which began on January 23, will run for a duration of 13 weeks. Learners will break for a 3-day half-term from March 16 to March 19, and close on April 22, 2023.
On May 8, learners will resume the 14 weeks long term two, with a half term break from June 29 to July 2. Schools will then close on August 12 up to August 27.
After the two week holiday students will resume third term – which is the shortest in the school calendar – August 28. There will be no break in this term, which will run up to October 27.
Learners who will not be sitting for their national will break for holiday on October 28, 2023 to January 8, 2024.
Grade six and class eight candidates will commence their KPSEA and KCPE exams on October 30 to November 2, 2023.
KCSE examination will then begin on November 3, and run until November 24, 2023
On November 27, the teachers will begin marking the exams until 15th December 2023, a session that will run for three weeks.
For students in Teachers Training Colleges, who completed their first term last year, the second term will run from January 23 to April 21, the third term from May 8 to August 11.
