New Details Of The Death Of A Rising Star Olympic Medalist Agnes Tirop Emerges
A world medalist long-distance runner Agnes Tirop was found dead on Wednesday in her home. Her body had serious stab wounds on her stomach.
It has been suspected that Agnes Tirop was brutally murdered by her lover whom they had conflicts with before. The murder incident was discovered by the family members who found her dead in her house in Iten village, Elgeyo Marakwet county.
Agnes Tirop’s has just been reported days after another Kenyan famous athlete Hosea Mwok Macharinyang died.
The 25 years old athlete was a fast-rising athlete. She won a bronze medallist in the 10,000m race in 2015 and a world cross country champion in 5000m at the Tokyo Olympics this year.
Only last month, she made another world achievement when she smashed the women-only 10 km world record in Germany with a time of 30:01, 28 seconds faster compared to the previous record, Athletics Kenya said.
In 2015, Tirop also made a historical record for being the youngest ever gold medallist in the women championship cross country.
It is a big loss to Kenya for the sudden death of the rising star athletics giant on the international levels.
The Athletics Kenya said that an investigation to unearth more details about her death have been launched and they inform Kenyans once they are done with the investigation.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has paid a lot of tribute to the young athlete and urged the police to track those behind her death.
President Uhuru further said that it is even more painful that the Kenyan Hero died at s young age through a criminal act.
On Saturday, another Kenyan long-distance athlete Hosea Mwok Macharinyang was found dead in his home in West Pokot in Western Kenya on what Kenyan athletics officials said was suicide.
