New Raila Tactics Gives DP Ruto Sleepless Nights Ahead Of 2022 Elections.
Raila Amolo Odinga Employs New Tactical styles against DP Ruto Ahead of 2022 presidential poll.
The 2022 presidential race has become one of the toughest competitions ahead of highly anticipated Kenya’s 7th general election scheduled for August next year.
The presidential race seems to be a race between two horses with ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto. They two are viewed as being the key presidential contestants.
Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga are working tirelessly each moment coming up with new tactics to outnumber each other politically.
Raila (Baba) seems to have embraced new tactical moves that are seeing him breaking from his old traditional modes of politics.
Raila (ODM party leader and handshake partner to president Uhuru Kenyatta) has been highly speculated as President Uhuru’s successor.
The new approaches that Mr Odinga has embraced for the success of his fifth possible stab at the Presidency include;
1. Agenda-Based Campaigns.
Mr Odinga in his recent rallies seems to be so much concerned with selling his agenda and policies rather than mere political rhetorics and propaganda.
Odinga has now shifted from time to time criticism against his opponent to outlining what he has in store for the. Kenyans.
In his recent campaigns he has dwelled on the economic and social empowerment of Kenyans as well as the fight against corruption should he be elected the next president of the Republic of Kenya.
2. He Embraces Coalition Making And Cooperation.
Odinga is keen to extend from the Nyanza region to a level of joining all the major tribes in Kenya to form one coalition.
He wants to form a coalition with like-minded political players for good results.
The ODM leader is willing to form a coalition with other party leaders without necessarily dissolving their parties.
3. He is Attempting To Make Woe Mount Kenya Region.
In history, the Mt. Kenya region has been anti-Raila for all the times he contested for the presidential seat.
His handshake with President Kenyatta is working favourably on his side.
The Mount Kenya region seems to have changed their perception and are likely to support Raila.
4. Embracing and Preaching Peace And Unity.
Raila has come up with a new slogan, “Azimio la Umoja”.
The call for peace and unity of Kenyans is a landmark to political success and it will significantly work against DP Ruto
5. Courting New Political Players And Consolidating His Traditional Support Bases.
Raila is one politician who may lose all his political foot soldiers and within a twinkle of an eye, court new faces and marshal the team for a national political contest.
Despite losing some of his key lieutenants countrywide, Odinga has equally courted and won the hearts of just a host of other political bigwigs countrywide.
The new faces in Raila’s camp include but are not limited to Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua,Elgeyo-Marakwet county governor Alex Tolgos, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, Kiambu Governor James Nyoro, Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth among others.
Odinga is also employing a well calculated and deliberate move to cling to his traditional support bases of Nyanza, Western, Coast and even Nairobi among other regions.
These renewed approaches could stealthily work against Deputy President William Ruto who is seen as the main challenger of the opposition supremo. However, politics is highly dynamic in that a day or two can come with tremendous developments that could change the political terrain forthwith ahead of 2022.
