New University Entry Grade For 2023 KCSE Candidates
The long awaited 2023 KCSE results to be released any time with new university entry grade.
According to education CS Ezekiel Machogu, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination verification and validation of results for the year 2023 is over and results is ready to be released.
Last year’s KCSE results were to be released before the year ended according to communications made earlier by the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education when the last paper was done. He had promised to release the results before Christmas.
However, following the anomalies which were experienced in the KCPE results, parents and other stakeholders urged the cabinet secretary and the whole team involved not to rush things so as to avoid making the same mistakes.
KCSE Results had to undergo rigorous verification and validation to ensure that the students will get the results as they truly deserve.
Besides the rigorous verification and validation, the other factor that led to the delay in the release of the last year’s results is the new grading system. According to the Cabinet Secretary the new grading system is the reason behind the push of the release dates to second week of January 2024.

The 903, 260 candidates who sat for the 2023 KCSE exam will be the first one to be graded using the new grading system that was recommended by the presidential working party on education reforms if adopted.
The new system was meant to advantage learners across all learning areas by reducing the number of compulsory subjects used in determining the final score of the candidates.
The new grading system will therefore focus on two compulsory subjects (Mathematics and English/Kiswahili and five other best performed subjects in determining the final grade of the candidates.
The system by all means will not disadvantage any student but will see that the majority attains grade C+ and above. However, the university entry point which has been maintained at grade C+(plus) for the past seven years will be subjected to changes. This is because with the new grading system, most of the students will be able to attain the pass mark.
In order to maintain the high standards of education, the university entry points will be raised together with other requirements for certain courses like cluster points.
