Over 210 School Headteachers To Be Sacked Over Charging Illegal Fees
Over 210 School Headteachers have been put on notice by the ministry of education over charging extra fees against the directives from the ministry’s Cabinet Secretary professor George Magoha.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) CS professor Magoha has today issued out a tough order to all school headteachers who have been charging illegal fees burdening parents amidst tough economic times.
According to parents complaints, some school headteachers were reported to have increased school fees illegally making it hard for parents to pay fees for their children as they were continuously being send home.
The ministry of education has warned headteachers against charging illegal fees something that has burdened angered the parents over time.
The Ministry of education has been giving tough orders over the same but doing less to help the parents against these rogue school heads.
Schools have come up with other vote heads such as motivation fees to compensate the remedial fees charged.
Following today’s announcement from the Ministry of Education, as recored in the Daily Nation, the names of the headteachers who have been illegally charging these fees will now face the wrath have been submitted to the ministry of education.
The list of 210 headteachers has caught the teachers unaware and if found guilty their employer, TSC no option but to sack them immediately.
According to Ministry of Education directives, national schools were supposed to pay fees of Ksh 45,000, instead of Ksh 54,000 while those in extra county schools fees was reduced from Ksh 42,000 to Ksh 35,000.
The agreement was reached to reduce the durden of paying school fees following the condensed academic calendar in a bid to recover the time lost when schools were closed due outbreaks of corona virus on March 2020.
However, the report from National Parents Association has shown that at least 200 schools heads and principals were still charging higher fees than the estimated figures by the ministry of education.
