School heads asked to be lenient with parents with fee balances
There is need for parents and Principals to reach an agreement on this matter urgently in order to ensure that the Learners are settled in their various schools and more so for candidates to have humble time to prepare for their final exam, national examinations.
Member of Parliament for matungulu has urged heads of school Principals to go easy on parents who have not cleared fee balances.
Speaking in Nguluni, the member of parliament said that Principals should not send students home to collect fee Arrears but instead they should reach out to the parents and make an agreement on how they will clear the balances.
Thenmembers of parliament noted that most parents were counting on bursaries from the National Government Constituencies Development Fund to ease their burdens and its pronouncement as illegal had crushed them a big blow.
The Member of Parliament promised to continue the fight to ensure that CDF is restored and further for the funds to be increased so that all the needy stu can benefit and get a good share that can take them a step farther.
He added that times are really hard for everyone due to the state of economy. Principals, please go easy on Parents even though it is hard for you too, he said.
The member of parliament however, Urged the parents to try and pay whatever they could to keep the schools running.
Earlier this month, the member of parliament wrote to Moses Wetangula the National Assembly Speaker on plans for a CDF bill after the kitty was declared unconstitutional.

This is a double edged sword.
1) The school principals on the other hand are staring at students going hungry if they cannot pay their suppliers.
2) It is the responsibility of the parent to reach out to the Principal and not vice versa and have some form of an agreement as well as pay small amounts, whatever is available.
A clear balance MUST be found on this critical issue.
