Parents had converged in school to attend parents meeting but what they did not know is that they will be tear gased.
A meeting to discuss the school reopening date turned chaotic at Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls HighMukumu Girls High School forcing the men in uniform to disperse the parents using teargas.
In the meeting a resolution had been made to reopen the school earlier by one week.

However, western regional commissioner who was chairing the meeting Mr. Irungu Macharia turned down their demand. The commissioner said that there are protocols to follow thus the foodstuffs could not be destroyed there and then.
The parents were enraged and they booed the regional commissioner forcing him to leave immediately.
After he left, parents decided to take the matter into their own hands by attempting to break into the school store to destroy the foodstuffs by themselves.
The police were forced to disperse the rowdy parents by throwing teargas canisters at them. Parents teargased during a meeting. Luckily there were no injuries and casualties reported during the incident.
The parents meeting was attended by several dignitaries including Boni Khalwale Senator Kakamega County, Kakamega woman representative, Shinyalu Member of Parliament Fred Ikana, Senior officials from Teacher Service Commission and regional director of education.
Kakamega County Governor supported the move by the parents saying the foodstuffs should be destroyed to be sure the students will not consume the contaminated food when the school reopens.
He said that there is no point for keeping the contaminated food in the school stores when students are in school.
Muhanda said that parents being the main stakeholders in the institution should be heard.
The government confirmed that the deaths that claimed three students and a teacher were caused by salmonella typhi a causative agent for typhoid.
