Rabai Member of Parliament William Kanoti dies hours after presenting his nomination papers to IEBC.
Hon. Kamoti died in the evening of Sunday, May 29, in a grisly road accident along the Maziwa-Mombasa-Malindi highway.
Kilifi OCPD Jonathan Koech confirmed the demise of the lawmaker who had just submitted his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The ODM party also announced his death and sent their condolences to the family and friends of the fallen Member of Parliament.
Kilifi OCPD Jonathan Koech confirmed the death of the MP in a grisly road accident at the Mnarani area along the Maziwa-Mombasa-Malindi highway on the evening of Sunday, May 30.
On its social media platforms, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party also announced the news of his death in a statement saying:
“The MP has reportedly passed on this night at Maziwa, Mombasa-Malindi highway in a fatal road accident”.
On social media, various leaders and Kenyans at large were heartbroken by the news of Kamoti’s death.
“My heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and citizens of Rabai Constituency following the death of their MP Hon.William Kamoti Mwamkale. We have lost a diligent and passionate servant of the people. May his soul rest in peace.” ODM director of communications Philip Etale said:
“RIP my friend Mheshiwa. William Kamoti, MP for Rabai Constituency in Kilifi county. A cool gentleman has left us. Sad. Pole to the people of Rabai.” MP Beb Momanyi said:
“I am saddened with the untimely demise of Rabai MP William Kamoti. A colleague, good soul and gentleman. We have lost a true patriot. My condolences to the immediate family, friends, and the people of Rabai and Kilifi County. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
