One employee of royal media service has been confirmed dead, with several others being hospitalised in a suspected food poisoning at the Royal Media Services Headquarters.
The Managing Director of royal media service Wachira Waruru confirmed the incident, saying the media house, which owns Citizen TV, Radio Citizen and several vernacular radio stations, was “saddened and shocked deeply” by the events.
The RMS boss said the incident occurred after staff who were on duty over Christmas ate food from a buffet prepared by a hired catering firm.
The royal media service had hired a private firm dealing with food catering to provide meals for the employees who were on duty during the Christmas day in keeping with holiday period working arrangements.
After eating well on Christmas day the following day, On Boxing Day, some of the staff complained of severe stomachache after being served within the premises of the company by the private food catering firm, Mr Waruru added.
The managing director added that several employees, have been hospitalized for the suspected food poisoning.
Royal Media Service is giving all the necessary support to the affected staff members and suspected food poisoning incident is currently under investigation, Mr Waruru said.
