Fire Chiefs and Sub-Chiefs who allow intoxicated brew and other substances in their Jurisdictional areas; Interior CS Directs Regional and County Commissioners.
Chiefs and Sub-Chiefs are in a hot soup following the Interior CS Fred Matiangi’s directives to Regional Commissioners and County Commissioners to fire Chiefs and Sub-chiefs allowing illicit alcohol in their area of jurisdiction with immediate effect.
Illicit brews and substances have claimed the lives of many people in the country. Many children have been rendered orphans after losing their parents due to the use of intoxicated alcohol and other substances.
The preparation and selling of illicit alcohol in various parts of the country surge day in day out affecting the surrounding residents. The fight against these substances has borne no fruits in parts of the country because sometimes those who are engaged are protected leaders such as area chiefs and assistant chiefs. Many a time the blame has been laid on leaders.
The existence of illicit brew and other substances in our communities not only affected the user but also the young generation, education sector and economic growth of the country at large.
Following this, the Interior cabinet secretary Dr Fred Matiangi yesterday directed all regional and county commissioners to sack chiefs who are abetting illicit alcohol and substances.
The CS strongly said that enough is enough and government will not condone such activities in the country and watch many innocent people suffer.
The campaign against illegal brew and substances remain a collective responsibility. What is your opinion?
