Security Enhanced in These Parts of Rift valley Ahead of National Examinations
As Cabinet Secretary Professor Magoha warns against cheating and exam irregularities, security has been enhanced by the government in the following places of rift valley ahead of the Kenya National Examinations.
This has been done to secure or ensure conducive environment for all the candidates both in primary and secondary schools ahead of the exams. Most parts of North Rift area has had it security enhanced.
According to Maalim Mohammed Regional Commissioner Rift Valley Region, Lakipia, Baringo, Turkana, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet are some of the areas within the north rift where security has been strengthened as we enter examination month.
The five counties have been facing many challenges of insecurity with cases of bandit attacks being reported from time to time. People have been forced to move from their residential areas in fear of attacks by bandits causing schools to be closed for some unknown duration.
The Commissioner added that the rule for merging schools with candidature of below thirty that was issued by the Kenya National Examination Council will, for security reasons, not be applied in these areas or counties.
Some of the schools that were closed due to bandit attacks in West Pokot County include, St Mary’s Cheptulele Girls, Seramach Primary School, Cheptulel Primary School, Cheratak Primary School and Cheptulel Boys.
Regional Commissioner said that they will ensure that the candidates from these five schools will write their examination by all means. Candidates from schools which have not reopened have been moved to other Examination Centers to ensure that all registered learners do their national examination.
He further added that enough security personnel have been deployed to man the forthcoming National Examinations.
Of importance is that throughout the exam period the security and safety of all students, parents and teachers in the areas mentioned above is guaranteed, Maalim Mohammed Regional Commissioner said.
